A stranger may walk behind you,
But as our friend,
Mindy walked beside us.

A stranger may be unfamiliar with our ways,
But as our friend,
Mindy knew our hearts.

A stranger may not know how you feel,
But as our friend,
Mindy shared our joy and our pain.

A stranger may keep things from you,
But as our friend,
Mindy freely gave her love.

Mindy will always be loved and not forgotten.
Nurses Tears
for Mindy

As nurses, our tears are often quietly shed, and if not a nurse
yourself, our tears would go unnoticed.  Our tears are for
emotions left unexpressed, held close to our hearts, for moments
that have touched our soul, they are for the lives we have
touched, and for the hope that each day we will make a
difference.

Today we shed our tears openly for all to see, for we have lost
one of our own, a nurse, who will no longer physically touch the
lives of others, no longer hold a hand, or wipe away the tears of
joy or sorrow from her patients.

Today we shed our tears openly for all to see, for we have lost
one of our own, a nurse, someone we called friend.

We were not prepared for this, but as nurses, in our hearts we
know that death often gives no warning; it is a part of life.  In
fact, death gives meaning to our existence because it reminds us
all how precious and fragile life is.

Mindy, your life was precious, your spirit generous, you gave of
yourself without asking for anything in return.  Our lives are
forever transformed for knowing you.
As nurses, when we quietly shed tears, one will always be
for you.

To hear your voice,
To see your smile,
Just to sit and talk a while,
To be together in the same old
way,
Would be the wish we would
make today.
I was blessed to have known Mindy for over 20 years, I worked with her and beside her.
Mindy was not only a professional nurse but a nurse's nurse.
Mindy was praised for her knowledge, her camaraderie and her leadership.  She was one
of the original nurse's to form a DEMAT team in Broward county; if you had a question
on how to manage hazmat she was the guru.
Mindy's leadership abilities were recognized by all.
What really stood out about Mindy was her ethical behaviour. For her friends always
remember her saying"that is not right, you know what I mean."
Above all that Mindy was, she did the most caring and compassionate actions, but you
never knew it because she never shared what she did for others. You only would find out
about her caring actions when that person she cared for told you of Mindy's deeds.
Shortly after her death, a nurse came to me and said 1 month after starting in the ED,
she had to have breast surgery, well Mindy only knowing her for 1 month yet she took it
upon herself to call her every day to see how she was and after this nurse left the
hospital, Mindy took her out to lunch.
Even though Mindy is gone, she will not be forgotten, Mindy was destined to do great
things, we miss her greatly, and she has left an emptiness in our profession that will be
hard to fill.
